VPK stands for Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten, and it is an education program funded through the Florida Department of Education. The state of Florida guarantees a year of pre-kindergarten preschool education free of charge to every 4-year-old child in the state. The goal of the VPK education program is to enable every child to be ready to learn by the time he or she enters kindergarten.
Several area preschools are certified to offer free VPK programs, but there are tremendous differences in quality. For this reason, Florida preschools are reviewed by the Florida Department of Education each year and given a score based on the following criteria:
What Makes our Pre School VPK Different?
Tampa Elite Sports Academy’s objective is to help your child blossom into the next stage of their life. TESA Pre School and VPK program provides the students with a small class setting allowing them to receive more one on one attention and provide extra assistance where needed.
Our lead teacher has 8 years of teaching experience, a Child Development Associates certification and is bilingual. Spanish is incorporated in the daily lessons to help further their knowledge and communication. Being a sports academy, we explore many mainstream sports and introduce the basic fundamentals and rules of the game.
The students not only get free play in the playground but they learn how to be a team player from the many sports and recreational games that are played. Tampa Elite’s Sports Academy uses Creative curriculum as our support system to teach our students. Our curriculum allows the students to learn writing, reading, beginning algebra, beginning geometry, beginning addition and subtraction. The students get to explore their creativeness through dramatic play and explore many different avenues of art. Together, we will achieve our goals and have each child ready to take on kindergarten.
The Creative Curriculum for Preschool:

Going on Field Trips:
Tampa Elite Sports Academy likes to take opportunities to take their students on several field trips throughout the year. Our favorite field trips are to the Town N Country Library. Here the students enjoy story time in a very active environment and learn about the library. The library also has special guest that perform some of the best puppet shows that bring fables and fairy tales to life. During the Spring we like to introduce the students to the farm and we go visit Old McMiky’s Farm.
The students enrolled in VPK and our preschool program are also allowed to be involved in our after school sports. We offer an array of sports throughout the year including soccer, gymnastics, and cheerleading. These sports are available at an extra cost per season. The season includes team t-shirts, practice and games at TESA, trophies, and a pizza party at the end of the season. If your child is only registered for vpk you can still bring your child back to school to participate in the organized sport. Please feel free to call us if you have any further questions about our after school activities.
